Pune: Regional Passport Officer cautions against agents, advises to use easy online process
Pune, April 27, 2024: Dr. Arjun Deore, Regional Passport Officer, Pune recently cautioned applicants to not seek services of agents or touts for any passport related work.
Talking a Punenkar News in an interview yesterday, Dr. Arjun Deore said it is dangerous to take assistance from agents and touts for passport related work and recommended easy online process for applying for a passport.
He posted on ‘X’ saying, “do not share with agents/touts/third parties your confidential information or personal documents which can be potentially misused.” The passport process is simple and applicants can complete it by themselves, he added.
The officer made it clear that Government of India has not authorized any middlemen or agents to act on behalf of passport applicants. People should not fall prey to the promises of earlier appointment or quick passport process.
Sharing confidential information such as name, phone number, Aadhar details etc. is dangerous and can be misused.
Any passport related work can be easily done online by visiting the official website of passport services at www.passportindia.gov.in or using the mPassport Seva mobile app on android or iOS.
